Father : Nothing .. Just came back from work .. You tell me
Son: Dad, I want to do a MBA !!
Father : A MBA or An MBA, idiot you dont even know what is an MBA ?
Son : I know dad, its Master of Business Administration ..
Father : Oh fine, so you know what does MBA stands for ... great ... Why MBA son ?
Son : Papa, I have an inclination for management. I dont want to serve as a techie in a MNC for my life time.. It sucks sometimes .. moreover it is the best career shift degree available in market ..
Father OK dear son .. but you are earning well in your current organisation and you recently got promoted .. I am sure you will grow to a management career ladder soon. And what career shift are you taking about ?
Son : Dad, I want to work in a financial firm or may be own a one soon ... CEO XXX(Son) S/0 YYY(Father) .. What do you think about it ?
Father : Uh hmm , sounds impressive .. But why finance ? Why not Operations ... or IT ? You have a good experience in Information Technology ..
Son : Papa ji, I have a great interest in finance .. I love reading financial papers .. I like to watch CNBC .. TV 18 and NDTV Profit .. Moreover dad I have taken few NSE Financial Certification and realised this is the stream for me .. I would like to become a CEO of financial advisor one day...
Father : I am impressed .. Ok.. fine .. All the best for your CAT ..
Son : CAT .. Dad CAT XAT MAT is not my cup of tea ... It sucks.. How can one judge a student on a two hour paper basis alone ? Non-sense ... In my opinion CAT should not be 'only' selection criteria .. They should consider prospective student profile as a whole ... And ..
Father : Oh enough son ... I got it .. Whats your call then ?
Son : Dad I want to do a MBA .. I mean an MBA from International University .. I will take GMAT TOEFL and IELTS .. Whatever it takes !
Father : Do you have any idea how much an International MBA cost ? I cannt afford to sponsor you dear .. I have limited funds which will be for your sisters marriage and my post retirement life .. and what about ROI ?
Son : Fine with me papa .. I will sponsor myself .. I have some funds and if I need I will go for an education loan .. I recently researched on that ... Nationalised bank gives loan as high as 20Lks for International studies .. What do you think mom ?
Father : Alright .. and ROI again ?
Mom : Do whatever you want to do .. We(parents) are with you !!
Son : Dad, Lets hope for the best. I have ZZZ years of experience and there always a job for one who really wants a job. I will start my international MBA application soon. US and UK are best known for their management education.
Son : Thanks dad.. Love you mom !!
Nobody knows How successful would son be in his dreams ... On a more serious note, see it’s all a question of where you see yourself say 10 years from now (although very few of us think that long term). If you are a 'techie' at heart you would probably be quite happy to be working on the tech side and you can make a great career that way as well, but if you want any of the following things then an MBA probably makes sense -
(1) A career move to an entirely different domain say finance or consulting.....it could be done the without an MBA as well but then the struggle is a lot harder
(2) Rapid Growth ... A fast forward button for your career.....in the corporate world degree holders from top B-schools are given positions of responsibility and authority very quickly considered to those without an MBA irrespective of any amount of 'managerial' acumen you may show.
(3) Money.....lots of it ..... at the end of the day there's no denying the fact that this plays a very important role besides your work...In fact for many it's the sole reason for many who pursue an MBA.....the hard fact is that those who do the actual work get paid far less than those who 'manage' them...."
Whats up ? How are you doing ? Have you seen the flick called The Race ? I enjoyed watching it on first day first show on Good Friday morning at 9 am. It was
a total paisa wasoo types movie.
The basic theme goes like this: Two brothers (Saif and Akshaye) own a stud-farm. Racing is their passion, though Akshaye is more interested in money and alcohol and all the good life. Saif loves his younger brother more than anything else and thats why sacrifices his love Bipasha for him hoping Akshaye will improve and let go off his drinking habit after he marries and settles down. But things go horribly wrong when one of them is murdered and the whole movie takes a turn. Anil (a connoisseur for fruits) is the investigating officer and only makes an entry after the interval. And its up to him to solve the mystery of the death only to reveal that nothing is what it seemed.
And hey anyone among you have read "Anything for you ma'am ?" The Author is an IITian Delhi 2006 chap. ‘Anything for you, ma’am’, which is his first book was published while he was still at college and continues to be a bestseller. Its again a worth for Rs 100.
Story Line
Tejas can’t help falling madly in love with his sister’s beautiful best friend Shreya even though she lives at the other end of the nation, in Chennai….and he would do anything for her….even jeopardize his career to travel the length of the country just to meet her.
F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly, it would still start the race with 80 things wrong!
When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences retardation or deceleration comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!
F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds!!!!!!!
F1 car engines last only for about 2 hours of racing mostly before blowing up on the other hand we expect our engines to last us for a decent 20yrs on an average and they quite faithfully DO....thats the extent to which the engines are pushed to perform
An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour
At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.
In a street course race like the Monaco grand prix, the down force provides enough suction to lift manhole covers. Before the race all of the manhole covers on the streets have to be welded down to prevent this from happening
The refuelers used in F1 can supply 12 liters of fuel per second. This means it would take just 4 seconds to fill the tank of an average 50 liter family car. They use the same refueling rigs used on US military helicopters today.
TOP F1 pit crews can refuel and change tyres in around 3 seconds. It took me 8 sec to read above point
During the race the tyres lose weight! Each tyre loses about 0.5 kg in weight due to wear.
Normal tyres last 60 000 - 100 000 km. Racing tyres are designed to last 90 - 120 km.
A dry-weather F1 tyre reaches peak operating performance (best 20grip) when tread temperature is between 900C and 1200C.(Water boils at 100C remember) At top speed, F1 tyres rotate 50 times a second.
Knock Knock Knock .. Anybody there ?
How are you doing? I hope well. I wish you all a very happy new year, very happy Makar Sankranti. In this blog I have documented some memories and experience of my Bhuleshwar, Goa, Auto Expo trips / visit. I hope you guys will have a good time reading the same.
Bhuleshwar trip
As I have already shown interest in joining Bhuleshwar trip in the last blog I am proud to tell you that we (PTCians including Umesh Pravin Atul Parag ) completed a very adventurous and tiring trip to Bhuleshwar. Bhuleshwar is off Pune-Solapur Highway (near Yawat) around 35 kms from Magarpatta,
Bhuleshwar Temple details can be view from following links
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhuleshwar_temple)
That day i.e. 25th Dec 2007 I had about 100 kms of cycling, the day started at 5:30 am with shower and dressing and ending with a shower at 6:45pm. I never felt so tired in my life as on last Christmas night. May be that was the present Santa had for me for Xmas. When Ashutosh Pandey called me to have a short fun time pass get together that night I refused as I was not in the position to even ride a motorbike after long trip. “Sorry friend some other time” was all that I can say.
Year End trip to Goa
Shakespeare said: Goa is a land of “infinite variety” whose charm “age cannot wither, nor custom stale”. Goa has a great charm for tourist of all ages whatever be their taste. To but it in other words if the sand, sun and sea are not your cup of tea then go party or dig art and culture, trust Goa to cater to your every taste. Some of the major entertainments are mentioned below
Bird-watching Bungee jumping Casinos Crocodile Watch River Cruise Discotheques Go-karting Kala Academy Water Sports Night-clubs Bars and pubs Cinemas
A word of caution: Never Visit Goa with limited cash and year end.
Although Goa is one of smallest states in India's map, with a territory of 3,702 sq km is cradled in the Sahayadri range in the Western Ghats, you end up paying a lot in travel and accommodation during peak season like Dec End.
Don’t miss the following
Drinks Cashew Feeni
Food Sea Food, Cashew Nuts
Sports Water Sports and Voleyball
Night Clubs, Pubs and Bar
Beaches : Anjuna, Calangute and Baga
Konkani Folk Songs, Portuguese Dance and Music
River Cruise
A unique blend of European Style Central Squares and Indian Bazaars
Portuguese Churches, Fort and Hindu Temples
Having been ruled by the colonial Portuguese for over 450yrs, there is still a distinctive European flavor that has permeated all aspects of Goa's life including its food, religion, language, festivals, dances and names.Apart from the increasing strength of Indian tourists from outside Goa, a large number of western tourists also arrive using the direct-chartered flights to Goa. Goa is best known for its spectacular beaches, but there are many old churches, monuments, temples and museums, that are a must see.Guess whom I met at Goa? Ekta Masand, my school classmate after almost 9 odd years. Lucky I recognized her almost instantly after she asked me to join her for some drinks and say hello to her group.
Auto Expo Visit
I have a great passion for automobile and aerospace industry. I simple love to see the future development in this industry. Where can one in India see most happening events and future technology and development better than Auto Expo. I hence decided to go for 9th Auto Expo scheduled from 10th Jan 2008 to 17th Jan 2008, showcasing world best automotive and automotive component exhibition.
After online registration and booking my tickets from http://www.autoexpo.in/ and http://www.irctc.co.in/ respectively I applied for a three days leave application to my manager Prashant Bhosale and the leave was granted. Thanks. My papaji was against my visit as he said world could be better seen from TV than anyother place. May be but I wanted to be a live part of Indian Auto Show Why ? India is the second largest two-wheeler market in the world. Fourth largest commercial vehicle market in the world. 11th largest passenger car market in the world apart from leaders in Robust production and manufacturing Indian Automotive Industry has come up a long journey.
The biggest attraction of the Automobile Show was Ratan Tata’s owned Tata Motors: World Cheapest Car which Tata unveiled as NANO on 10th Jan 2008. Although Tata’s have not reviled the full specification of Nano, Nano is simply a great product considering that it is the first car in the world which has met all emission and safety norms, has a capacity of 4 to 5 person, at a great affordable dealer price of Rs100,000 only.
Mumbai Marathon.
http://mumbaimarathon.indiatimes.com/
http://www.thegreatestrace.com/
Can you dare to ride Bike from Pune to Mumbai at chilling winter ? I did !! I reached Mumbai Thane from Kalyani Nagar Pune i.e. about 170 kms in about 4 hours on 18th Jan, Friday evening! I met Ashutosh Patak, my school friend in Thane after a long time then and We had a good party time (drinks and snacks) along the frames of Chakde and Bombay to Goa movie.
The next day morning after watching “ Bombay to Bangkok” with Ashutosh’s flat mate at Thane I visited Aroras family. Mr. Rajesh H Arora is my aunt son who have settled with his family and two cute kids in Mumbai. We went to mall in the evening and had a good home food.
On Sunday the 20th Jan, I successfully completed my Dream Run 6kms at Mumbai Marathon in little over 36 minutes. Cheers to good life and health. I started and finished in front of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Terminus, an elaborate construction in Victorian Gothic style and a World Heritage site.
About 35,000 runners, including 40 of the world’s 100 top athletes, participated in the fifth Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, on Sunday. Now digest this !! Last year, the marathon raised almost Rs 80 million for various charities involving 150 NGOs. This year, the organisers raised almost Rs 100 million. The Mumbai Marathon, which is the richest marathon in Asia and also features among the top ten marathons in the world, has emerged as the single largest charity event in India.
Mumbai runs for a cause with a dash of glamour. I lucky had a glimpse of John Bipasha Arshd Warsi Milind Soman. On my way back from CST to Thane I met an experienced fellow who is working in Mahindra and Mahindra for past 25 years. We had a good discussion about profile, company, work content, new developments in Auto Industry etc. I was really glad to know that this particular chap knows great deals about my product and my company, and why would he not after all his team has used CADDS5 for about 5 years.
I have so much to write but due to some work load and eye care limitation, I am now deciding to stop this blog here. I will keep you posted. I guess this is my largest post ever in my blog page. I hope you had a good time reading it, Cheer ! Smile a lot , it cost nothing.
Warm Id Wishes !! How are you doing ? I am surprised that my phone dont ring these days ! Where is everybody ? Am I the sole survival on Planet Earth ? Relax, I know I am not. Just though to relate a recent movie theme with my life. Anyone seen the movie "I am Legend" starring Will Smith ? Well I have, the last evening with Praveen Gupta, who had a also shared a good news with me. Praveen Gupta Gold Medalist MNREC Mechanical (Batch 2000-2004 i.e. a year senior) has got a good promotion in Symantec Software Pune. Mr Praveen Gupta will be celebrating his 25th Birthday on 28th Dec 2007 with a blast. Cheers ! Ya, Now lets come back to movie discussion. One of my colleague cum friend Miss Shradha Jaiswal gave a real bad review of the movie. She didnt liked it at all, and I liked it to a fair extend. I just recalled watching All About Ads JWT HSBC Ad Campaign yourviewpoint. Different people, different views. Anyways this movie is about a former scientist Robert Neville, a sole survivor of a world dominating virus created by man. Neville dedicates his life to surviving for the sake of the human race, since he's somehow immune to the virus and those who have been infected, and attempts to find a cure. Salute to Director and Writer ! And special thanks to Praveen Gupta for the movie invitation.

Bhuleshwar, the place is off Pune-Solapur Highway (near Yawat) around 35 Km from Magarpatta, that makes about 45 km one way journey for me.
Its time to celebrate the weekend. I am logging off now. I hope to hear my phone ringing soon.
I read a great advertisement in Economic Times today. Advertisement quotes a statement "From falling apples to a rising share index it pays to know more".said by non other than Sir Newton, Great Physicist and Mathematician. I really admire the paper advisement by Motilal Oswal Financial Services. Salute.
My friend Priyanka, who yesterday got placed in Sonata Technologies Banglore as a Business Analyst adviced me to read Ecomonics Times daily. Although there are many other reason to thank her, I really thank her from bottom of my heart and sole for that specific suggestion.
I received my refund of Mundra Port IPO subscription back, this was my fourth consecutive refund from no allotment of IPO after Power Grid, Kouton Retail and Religare. I realised there is not point in investing small amount in IPO as eventually you end up gaining nothing but instead blocking your small investment for few weeks or a month.
Hey I have a good news to share with you guys, I am shifiting to my new rented flat tomorrow. And I am quite excited about it. Why excited ? Well there are more than dozen of reasons for that. First and foremost I dont really enjoy the company of my current roommates and I am sure neither do they. And the new flat I am shifiting to is a luxurious 2 BHK flat in which just two (me and my friend Ankur Agarwal) are going to stay.
And yes dear friends, like last year I am participating in Marathon Men 10K (Chest Number 3701). Say three Cheers for me. Hip hip hurray Hip hip hurray Hip hip hurray. I target to complete this race in 50 min this time, please wish me good luck.
ET-Instapoll Today's Question askWould you be confortable with ethanol-blended petrol for your car. Of course yes, How stupid is the question. Helloooo !! I mean who in this world would be uncomfortable with the ethanol blended petrol if he / she gets the same or better performance, lesser pollution without the side-effect at cheaper or equivalent cost.Do you have argument to oppose me? I hope you support me.
Its time to take a break for a while. Allow me take some fresh air on the last night at this flat. Take care Bye

Everyone is Invited!!
I was thrilled Sri Sri Ravi Shankar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sri_Sri_Ravi_Shankar, himself teaching Yoga, Pranayam etc. I decided to join it.
On the first day of the Shibir, I learned the defination of Meditation.
Sri Sri: Meditation is not trying to think of something. Meditation is relaxing deeply. If you are concentrating on a problem, then you are not relaxing. Meditation is almost like sleep, but it's not sleep. It is what happens right after Sudarshan Kriya - when you are lying down, what's on your mind?Nothing! There is nothing. It's blank. That is meditation. Or, when you are really happy or when you are resting, then, what is the state of your mind? That is a meditative mind. Even when you are in deep love... and you are reposing in love, then that is meditation. It's very simple! When the mind becomes free from agitation, when it becomes calm and serene, and is at peace, then meditation happens. By meditation you can turn your body into a powerhouse as your generate an inner source of energy.
I am enjoying the event. I wish you guys could be part of this megaevent.
I will post more frequently now.
5th of June 2007 was a great day of my life .. Right from the midnight 12am, to the morning to the end of the day.. In this post I have posted some glimpse of the day .. I will tell you later why I stated midnight to midnight earlier. I got up early morning (about 6:30 am) to jog along with my friend Shradha and her flat mate Arpita. After jogging exercising and walking the Joggers park till 8 pm .. I was invited by the lady for a cup of the tea .. I tell you she is queen of tea .. You ask her for a cup of tea or coffee any time of the day and she is ready.. Anyways .. Since my flatmate ( Sardar and one non sardar ) leaves the flat at about 8:45 am I rushed back to my flat jogging back.
Hey did I told you its my sweet little sister birthday today. Yep she shares her birthday with World Environment day.. I wished her early morning after the jog for a great day ahead. I love you sister.
Hey I have an interview today .. For Symbiosis Part time Diploma in Finance... I dressed up all formal in my black checks and a blue trousers.. Reached office at about 9:15 am .. Popped with a question "Are you going to wear this for your interview ? I guess Himanshu you should change you shirt to something formal" by someone. I thought it would be better to go for a change.
Resolved some issues .. The interview was scheduled at SIBM at 1:45pm, as I respect time I reached there before time, waiting for my interview call. I see a mixed crowd all round me waiting for the same interview, may be for different courses thought. The competition was not really tough, I guess. I was praying I get my change to do well and as soon as possible, as I have to rush back to attend my workplace. Thanks to my colleague who understands my future motivation for Higher Studies. Anyways we (those who were waiting for interview call) were finally asked to split up and move to different rooms to attend the interview. Finally a group of 5 student are intimated to wait outside the room where a A4 size paper reads "Interview for Diploma in Finance". I was the 3rd one, while I was looking here I noticed a girl at the 5th position and then sweet cute girl with a pretty smile asked me.. Excuse me "Would you mind if I go for the interview before you, Actually I have to catch a bus from Swargate at4:30 pm, its already about 2:30 pm moreover I have to take my bags from Karvenagar ?" I tell you frankly its really difficult to say no to girl and to such a beauty, how can one. I exclaimed fine, but if we ever meet again you owe me a treat for the same. She smiled without confirming the treat and moved in for the interview. I was just hoping that this girl and of course myself get selected in this course. Anyways after she checked out. I entered the interview hall. 2 interviewer, one with a thick file which probably contain my application form and the other with the Dell Laptop.. So here starts the interview
HB: Himanshu Bajaj(thats me)
I1: Interviewer 1
I2: Interviewer2
HB: Hello, Good Afternoon sir
I1: Hi, Have a seat.
I2: So Mr Himanshu Bajaj, you are an engineer... From which college ?
HB:Sir, I am a Mechanical Engineer from MNREC now better known as MNNIT..
I1: I can see you have got very good grades in your college academics. Why do you want to do an Part Time Diploma course.. Why haven't you tried for the full time or Executive MBA Part time or evening classes ?
HB: Sir, I want to pursue an MBA from USA for same I would be taking GMAT and would be moving to US(whisper .... hopefully) in July 2008, so I just have an year in my hand.. More over I wished to do something to push my application to qualify for a better scholarship for my Full time MBA course in USA...
I2: So Why finance ? Have you ever done any other course yet in this subject ?
HB: I have a great interest in Finance sir. I love to read Economic Times, I really enjoy my time watching Stock, Business and Economic news. And Sir, I have cleared NCFM -- Financial Beginner module and Security market module with good grades. Have a look at this certificate..
I2: Oh I can see that 91% score .. You know what .. I guess you should take all the 15 module..
HB: Sir, I guess doing your course for 25,000 is far better deal then receiving 15 NCFM certification ..
I1: Uh hm.. Tell me would you able to make up for the classes daily..
I2: Daily at 6:45 pm
HB: Yes sir.
I1: Where do you stay ? Oh I see you work with PTC ... Is it a software firm ?
HB: Sir I stay near Gold Adlabs, Kalyani Nagar. Yes, PTC is just behind Gold Adlabs .. Its a software firm.. It will take me to reach just 20 min to reach here ..
I2: 20 min.. How many signal are you going to break for same, I dont want you to break any signal.
HB: Sir I had joined Dilip Oaks classes for 3 months .. I used to reach before time for classes at 7 pm daily ... I am pretty sure I can make it to class daily.
I2: You know Himanshu, whether you attend or dont the Dilip Oak classes it does not matter once you pay the fee. But here the case is not so.. I need 100% attendance from you. Can you make it ?
HB: Sir, If I can make 100% attendance for a class where attendance is optional I can surely commit for my Finance Classes for sure..
I1: Okey .. Uhhm hmm How many girl friend do you have ?
HB: (A bit surprised !) Well I have 4 of them
I2: Is any one there with you here with you for your interview..
HB: No
I1: He will make 5th one here .. Laughs slightly.
HB: Thanks for the encouragement ... (with a huge smile on my face)
I2: You are thanking me for a reason I dont want to ..
HB: Sorry sir .. Excuse me, By the way I am not thanking you for this issue. I am thanking him.
I1: Alright .. I guess you make it a good diploma.. Welcome, It good to have you here. Hope to see you soon.
HB: Thank you sir.
As I was already running short of time as I have some work commitment at office. I rushed backed to office. Keeping a good eye on time it takes to reach from SIBM to Office, with or without breaking signal(Its Pune and its all fair here) I reached back to desk in just 21 min. Wooh I was not that fast enough.. Anyways I had a great time..
When I reached back Krishna, Atul ,Snehil and Shradha asked me about how was the interview. I just smiled back to all of them statitng I guess its positive. I can make in the top 60 list out of the 190 student who applied for Postgraduate Diploma in Finance (PGDF).
Great day. Well there is lots more to share about this day.. But I am too tired to write more. And yaa its Priyanka Kher birthday tomorrow. 6th June ... I must set up an alarm for the midnight to wish her first..
Hey guys I hope you enjoyed reading this .. Well I tell you I enjoyed typing it down too. Hope to hear from you. Please do call sometimes. 09881108255. Take care. Biii
